Jacquelyn K. Heasley is the author and creator of Split-Second Sermons. Jacque traveled the world singing for many years. Here is her story of how Split-Second Sermons was born:
In 1989, Jacque travelled to Lagos, Nigeria as a guest minister/singer of Pastor E. A. Adeboye of The Redeemed Christian Church of God. She poured her heart out to him of hurtful attacks by friends, and he stretched his hand out across the table to shake her hand and said these words she will never forget: “Let me be the first to congratulate you, you are very loved of God.” He then continued, “IF YOU WILL BE MOVED BY MEN’S CRITICISM, YOU WILL BE MOVED BY THEIR PRAISE–BE DEAD TO BOTH!” After she returned home from Africa, she rolled those words over and over in her head. She then wrote them and sent an email to many friends in the ministry and the response was beautiful. She then started taking notes of words spoken by ministers and would condense them down to one-liners, thus creating what she originally called PASTOR’S PUNCH LINES. A few years later a friend suggested she rename them Split-Second Sermons. Now Jacque has hundreds of one-liners that are used in church newsletters, websites and books all over the world.
